The trust makes a large number of mostly small grants to charities, with a preference for those in Dundee and Tayside. It tends to give to the same charities each year.

The trustees usually meet once (perhaps twice) per year, usually in winter months, and applications are collated throughout the year and presented to the meeting. Applications are not usually acknowledged on receipt. Successful applicants will be informed soon after the meeting. Unsuccessful applicants are not informed.
