Macmillan Cancer Support

Action Team Volunteer

Action Team Volunteers are central to Macmillan’s fundraising and awareness raising. Join our friendly UK-wide team of volunteers to make a difference and help Macmillan reach more people living with cancer. This is a varied, family friendly and fun way to get involved as part of Team Macmillan.

What’s involved?
You’ll provide support when you can, depending on
activities taking place in your local area, which could

  • Marshall, cheer, collect money or provide practical
support in other ways at our events – from walks to
marathons, cycles, swims and race days. Other
locations may be festivals/gigs, special events,
    fetes, and balls
  • Support Macmillan locally by spreading the word
through campaigning, in-office support, putting up
posters, and using your social media accounts
  • Other ad-hoc activities may arise on the day

What will you get out of it?

  • Use your communication and influencing skills to
    talk about what Macmillan provides
  • Develop your listening and empathising skills
  • Be a part of a friendly team that makes a difference in the community
  • Receive a briefing and support on the day, and pre-agreed out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed within our guidelines

Organisation aims and objectives

Founded in 1911, Macmillan Cancer Relief (formerly Cancer Relief Macmillan Fund) works to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families. Each year they help more than 200,000 people throughout the UK. They provide funding for Macmillan nurses, doctors and other posts, provide patient grants, fund building developments or refurbishments and provide an information service. They can help by giving benefits advice and showing you how to fill in forms and apply for grants. Find local services on the website.

Availability: all days, all times.
