What We Do
Voluntary Action Angus (VAA) is the local organisation supporting and leading the third sector in Angus. It is recognised by Scottish Government, Angus Community Planning Partnership and Angus Council as fulfilling a key role in ensuring the continued development of a vibrant third sector in Angus.
Voluntary Action Angus derived from the merging of AAVO into Volunteer Centre Angus. Our primary purpose is to progress the 4 key interface functions as set out by Scottish Government. These are:-
- Volunteer development
- Social Enterprise development
- Supporting and developing a strong third sector
- Building on the third sector relationship with community planning
The work of Voluntary Action Angus is constructed from dialogues within the third sector and brings a range of priorities for VAA to deliver on. The term ‘third sector’ describes the diverse but consistent value-driven movement, aspiring for social justice and the promotion of individual and community wellbeing.
Our commitment to inclusive practice is grounded on engagement activity developed through dialogue approaches, eliciting new learning involving all the people all the time in all the issues. VAA values trusts and relationships with the communities it serves. Fundamentally our work is always about building relationships with volunteers, voluntary organisations, local communities, social enterprise and people who aspire for innovation and relationships with community planning. It is also about the solidarities leading to successful collective representation where the third sector plays a major role on a shared vision for Angus, ‘where all people enjoy the best opportunities and the experience’.
